Recall all the pain you went through in your childhood. How did it affect your teenage years and adulthood? What would have made it better back them? When we're kids we don't have the tools and knowledge how to deal or understand what's happening, why it's happening and what to do with what's happening. Imagine if you had the tools that helped you navigate through the ocean of emotions in your childhood, the exercises that normalized your experience and gave you guidance on how to deal with the pain, doubt, confusion, frustration, being misunderstood and unseen. As kids we feels these complex emotions and it doesn't mean that our parents failed us. NO! It's just part of life. It's part of the journey of becoming a person! These and much more are the goals that MyFeels delivers on for your child.
The program was designed for kids of all ages and different backgrounds. It's never TOO LATE or TOO EARLY to start teaching our kids feelings. I've designed the program in a way that it grows with the child. As a child grows, you might want to introduce more advance feelings, exercises, and synonyms. More importantly, as kids become older their life challenges become more complex. Kids might need to dive deeper into MyFeels questions and self-coaching material to digest and release BIG emotions.
It's in the small things. A child starts using "I feel..." or "I'm happy" statements more often. They also start to accurately identify their emotions in a moment. They'll recognize those feelings in others and potentially offer them ways or strategies to deal with those feelings that they've learned from MyFeels. Problematic behaviours, acting out and shutting down episodes will be reduced dramatically.
It's all about it making an active fun. You can have an allocated formal sit-down time slot in your schedule for MyFeels. But I'd recommend having MyFeels accessible to a child at all the times. Let a kid examine facial expressions, little details, outfits, colours or use the cards to build a house of cards. MyFeels should become your child's pathway to their emotional world.
